About
The Hillsboro Area Ambulance Service was formed in 1988, when the contracted ambulance service provided notification that they would no longer provide service. The City of Hillsboro, Town of Hillsboro, and Town of Greenwood joined together to form the service. Later on, the Town of Forest joined and included approximately 3/4 of their township.
The Hillsboro Ambulance has operated 2 ambulances, providing 24/7 emergency coverage to our service area, as well as interfacility transfers out of the Gundersen-St Joseph’s Hospital, located in Hillsboro. We are a paid-on-call service.
About
Join Our Department
The Hillsboro Area Ambulance Service has been in service since 1988. They recognize the importance and need for educated emergency responders for the local community and wish to demonstrate this by offering a scholarship to individuals pursuing qualifications as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and/or an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
In addition to scholarships, we offer tuition reimbursement for EMR and EMT programs and will reimburse 50% of the application fees, tuition, book and exam fees paid to the Technical College and required immunization costs when the trainee obtains their EMR license. The remaining 50% will be reimbursed upon completion of 6 months of active service once the license is obtained.
